UEC BMX EUROPEAN CUP
IMPRESSIVE NON-STOP RACES
The most popular heat of the UEC BMX European Cup is the one at Circuit Zolder, where rounds 1 and 2 are up for grabs this year. “There are around 3,500 participants across all categories, including youngsters. With spectators and escorts, we have about 20,000 attendees. For the casual cycling fan, live BMX races are much more impressive than you might think, with the high start, jumps and falls. What’s more, it is almost non-stop spectacle, especially in the qualification rounds. Then things go really fast, with groups starting before the previous riders have crossed the finish line”, says Ruben Putzeys, Circuit Zolder Cycling Assistant.
It’s no surprise that Circuit Zolder, as an organisation, also won the UEC BMX European Championships, a 1-day championship. You can enjoy the uninterrupted spectacle and the cosy atmosphere, and the commercial stands for bike related articles as well as food and clothing, along with the accessible cycling village, are nice extras. Mark it in your diary, because both events are ready for a wider audience.
